Edward Donnelly preforms in the Broken Wings video

Here's a great photo pulled from the upcoming Dresden Cowboy music/video for the Jason Peirce song BROKEN WINGS.  It's another well produced piece of music by the team of Mike and Ed, and it's nice to finally get Ed into one of the videos!

Edward Donnelly on set of Broken Wings Video

Worked with Edward Donnelly today on the upcoming music video for another Jason Peirce song, produced by the amazing team of Michael Madill and Edward Donnelly - Broken Wings. I have one day of production left, next Monday... Thank you Ed for your great work on set today. Now, at least, it can be said that there will be one good looking cowboy in this music video.

The Fallout from my super hero cowboy...

The Fallout from my super hero cowboy costume, and Cody's amazing song THE COOL CATS WILL CALL, has been fantastic.  The video was well received.  The outfit, complete with blue feather, is now hung in my closet awaiting the moment that a bull-legged, dressed up, singing cowboy is needed to save the day on Hollywood Boulevard.  I begin production on the Broken Wings video next week...  I'm also in process of finishing up a song that I am co-writing with Jason Peirce titled Angel Sing (which my son is slated to produce), and, Cody Melville is cooking up another song possibility for me as well.  Oh, and I've dusted off my old Ensoniq keyboard workstation.  It needs a soldering job - then I will pull sequenced tracks for a song I wrote many years ago and get that one off the Mike and Ed for, yet, another marvelous arrangement.  Good days indeed for the Dresden Cowboy!  God Bless.

Cowgirl Kimmy Asks...

Cowgirl Kimmy, a professed Dresden Cowboy fan, writes... "Hey, love your work Cowboy - I'm always looking for hidden meanings and the "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" seems perfect for your song The Cool Cats Will Call.  But it gives me more than one way of thinking.  Can you tell me how the video relates?

Well Cowgirl Kimmy... I looked at The Cool Cats Will Call (written and produced by Cody Melville) as being about how pursuing fame will make your heart empty and head full of distracting nonsense - at least, if you are prone to analyze.  So the line "story books heroes are looking like a couple friends of mine" gave me the idea that super heroes were the easiest way to illustrate that understanding to the contemporary Disney/Hollywood super fueled attraction to Marvel, and other-like fantasy characters. The plastic hot police mannequin is intended to represent the vapid relationships which comes with the fallout of fostering a delusional fame driven ego. By design, these videos have a retro feel, so, I am hoping to invoke a bit of nostalgia reminiscent of the early days of MTV.  I would add, in particular, on this video I experience a huge degree of surreal fun.

Yee-haw, sayeth the Dresden Cowboy!

Broken Wings

Sent vocal tracks to L.A. producers Mike and Ed. They've put together a compelling arrangement for my version of, yet, another Jason Peirce song titled Broken Wings. I expect to begin production on the Music Video early next week. It's a beautiful, soulful song and I look forward to posting this version soon. My best!

Finding my superhero powers...

THE COOL CATS WILL CALL.  So I've created a super hero storybook character for my latest music video.  I went with a Druidic symbol on my chest, therefore, those of you in the know will get why it makes sense to run with the moniker of BARDMAN.  I spent a bit of time on Hollywood Boulevard working with some real life (actors portraying) storybook characters.  There is a line in this Cody Melville song "All the storybook heroes, are looking like a couple friends of mine", which, I suspect, somehow, inspired the crazy thought to create BARDMAN and bring him to life on Hollywood Boulevard.  Yes, now I can honestly state that I, joyously, have spent time with famous living characters such as, The Flash, Spongebob, Black Zorro, Superman, along with a compelling Michael Jackson reboot and several cool dudes with well mannered boa constrictors.  Ken Fischman helped me shoot this video - thanks Ken!  It is a Cody Melville written and produced song!  I have some color correction and titling yet to take care of on this video, but, I expect to post the completed version this coming Monday.  Oh, and I discovered an amazing new actress to play the role of my date in this video.  She seems a bit stiff - awkward - yet aesthetically, she is well put together and gave a flawless, unreal, performance.  THE COOL CATS WILL CALL is a lively, fun song, and ultimately I believe the video satires the idea of the pursuit of fame...  Or, at least, my pursuit of fame.  Regardless, I had a kick putting it together, and, would add, while shooting one day I was asked by Wonder Woman about my superhero powers.  I pondered her inquiry as I mumbled, "I'm just a singer shooting some video on Hollywood Boulevard."  Brandishing a warm beautiful smile she said, "Then that must be your superpower.  Singing."  Wow.  Wouldn't it be nice if Wonder Woman was only right.

Here's another still shot from the upcoming music video for my version of the Cody Melville song, THE COOL CATS WILL CALL. This is a shot of Flash along side Wonder Woman w/ Zorro looking on. Hollywood Boulevard is like a carnival for the eye.

Also, I would like to mention, Mike and Ed sent over the arrangement on my version of the Jason Peirce song BROKEN WINGS... Wow, I look forward to putting the vocal tracks together the first of next week.

The Work Song...

Okay, two cool things today. Well, tonight... I finally had the opportunity to sing the Work Song live with Marty and Elayne at the Dresden, in Hollywood. It wasn't brilliant, but, it wasn't not brilliant (whatever that means). Also, finally decided on the shoes for my blue costume for the next Dresden Cowboy music video. Monochrome man is just a couple weeks away. Regardless, the shoes are - Lugz Men's Brigade Hi TX Boot. Pretty cool boots, not that I'm getting a kickback or anything. I think everyone will get my blue choice upon completion and posting of the vid. The wardrobe choice is for the Cody Melville song titled The Cool Cats Will Call. I look forward to posting the music video soon.

Angel Sing and other cool vibe!

Wow, this life just keeps getting cooler.  Where to start?  I have one day left of shooting on my NEW WAY TO CRY video.  The ongoing California rain storm has impeded my progress on that video a bit.  Regardless, if the current plan works I expect to post that song this coming Friday.  I've already started on the music video for the song to follow, which is a song titled THE COOL CATS WILL CALL.  I have several new recordings in the works.  Mike and Ed are arranging and producing another Jason Peirce song titled BROKEN WINGS, and, Cody has begun arrangement/production on my Irish drinking buddy, Marc Carroll's song, titled, NO TIME AT ALL.  I look forward to voicing these works.  Also, I just dusted off an old half written song of my own which Jason has committed to helping me finish - a song that I refer to as my lost cowboy-punk song.  It's called Angel Sing.  It's odd, but, hopefully, lovely in some way.  I look forward to getting all this cool vibe complete and brokered to the public's ear-bones very soon!

Another still shot from the latest Music Video

We have two shooting days left on my New Way to Cry music video...  Just need a break in this California monsoon.  Looks like Mon/Tues will be the final shoot dates.  Ken Fischman and Julien Reneaud have been assisting production on this one.  I also have started work on The Cool Cats Will Call music video.  Cool Cats is an amazing Cody Melville song, which, he also produced for me, and I'm excited about shooting the video for that one as well.  I look forward to posting the new vids very soon.

Drinks in Hollywood

Had drinks with my brilliant L.A. music producers...  Michael Madill and Edward Donnelly came by the Dresden tonight in Hollywood.  They brought a buddy by as well, Chuck Bartels, a current member of Sturgill Simpson's band.  Apparently Mr. Bartels is in town along with Mr. Sturgill to do some little television presentation - it's called the freakin' Grammy Awards!  Marty and Elayne played tonight while we toasted.  Sara was their guest performer, she sounded good, as always.  It was a fun time.  Nice to meet fellow Michigander, Chuck Bartels.  Best of luck to you and Sturgill at the 2017 Grammys!
